Come right out and tell him you are comparison shopping and have seen other examples. Also tell him this may be his last chance to sell it to you. . . Then say to him, &#039;What is your best price&#039;, listen and walk away. Leave your phone number and go off looking for other rings. . . take your time and know what you are buying.

Gold runs about $900 - 950 per ounce pure 24kt, there are roughly twenty eight grams to the ounce and you are buying something 14k which is 50% pure. The two gold rings combined without diamonds or trimmings should weigh no more than sixteen (16) grams.
Okay so $950 divided by .50 (50%) X 16 grams divided by 28 grams = $271.
Restated 950/.50 X 16/28 = $271 the intrinsic value of the gold you are buying. Realize the jeweler has to add mark up for his price and if there are other metals or precious stones attached it still goes higher.
Also realize the jeweler did not make it, he buys it out of a catalog supplied to them and there may be a thousand similar copies. Good luck and take my advice.</description>
